Congratulations to Friskis & Svettis Olso gym instructor Alexander Rybak who won the Eurovision Song contest in Russia on the 16th May.

HISTORY ON THE HOOF

In April 2009 Viking Hiking leader John Greig led six guided heritage walks. Money raised by these walks was divided equally between local charity CLAN and the new national charity HELP for HEROES.

25th June 2009 - St CYRUS TO INVERBERVIE VIA BENHOLM

A linear route of about 8 to 8 ½ miles mainly on flat good surfaced paths and roads along the coast and diverting via Benholm Mill and back through Gourdon to Inverbervie. The day starts with a 25 minute bus ride at 10.33am from Inverbervie Co-op to St Cyrus.

NOTE :- This walk replaces the normal Thursday morning walk from Dobbies and is for ALL members attending Friskis & Svettis classes and Viking Hiking sessions. New members and guest walkers most welcome. A normal walk from Dobbies will be available on Friday 26th June 2009.

Glen Shee to Morven - 21 Walks in Deeside Booklet

This booklet was compiled by one of our loyal class members Ian Hustwick and it details the routes for 21 walks in Deeside encompassing the Glen Tanar, Glen Muick and the Glen Shee areas. There are photographs of plants which can be seen on each walk, as well as relevant historical and archeological information. The walks take between 3 and 6 hours to complete and each route is marked, together with information on how to reach its starting point. The cost of the booklet is only £8 and all proceeds go to support Cancer Link Aberdeen and North (CLAN)
